Have you ever noticed a rhinoceros minutely? If your concern is with the physical characteristics of a rhinoceros, you will come across a plenty of them. As per the visuals go, its horn seems to be the distinct physical aspect. In fact, in Greek, rhinoceros denote to nose horns.
The horns are very prominent
The horns are indeed one of the striking physical characteristics of a rhinoceros. Both the African species have two horns. The horn that is towards the end of the nose is the most prominent one and also the largest.
The Sumatran rhinos, the Asian species have two horns. The other two Asian species are known to one horn.
Thick skin without any hair
Having thick skin, with layers of fat is yet another one of the highlighting physical characteristics of a rhinoceros. Usually they have a gray skin, but it varies based on the conditions of soil they live and graze.
It is very surprising to find that their whole body doesn’t contain hair, except for a few areas like shoulders, but with 1.5 inches thickness.
They have a huge size
The huge and gigantic size is also one of the physical characteristics of a rhinoceros that cannot be missed. They are as tall as 6 feet and weighs almost 8000 pounds. The rhinoceros is considered as the largest walking mammal on the earth.
