According to research conducted with the strongest telescopes in the world, the building blocks of the Earth seem to be composed of ‘fairly normal’ material. Scientists made measurements of 18 different planets of 456 light-years across the structure of the Earth has been identified with similar elements.

This very detailed study for finding a planet similar to the Earth is intended to follow the process from birth to development of the planets. For this, the basic and common components of the planets are being screened.

Scientists thought that some stars might be planets like the Solar System, the first planet discovery came in 1992.

Siyai Xu from the study team: “It is difficult to see these remote lands directly. They are very far away, and they prevent me from studying the bright light planet of the star they are connected to. For this reason, it is necessary to resort to indirect methods “.

For such reasons, the researchers decided to reveal how the planetary building blocks are affected by the signal from white dwarf stars. Such stars are hydrogen and heavily concentrated heavier stars. The sun will turn into a white dwarf after about 5 billion years.

“The atmospheres of the white dwarfs are very clean and clearly spectral, despite the fact that they are made of hydrogen and helium. The star begins to draw material from planets, asteroids, comets and other objects. This material forms around the star like a dust disk, just like Saturn’s ring. So the star’s appearance starts to change. Since the spectral signal from the star changes over the course of the change, it allows you to measure the structure and even the amount of material. These measurements are sensitive enough to show the structure of small objects like an asteroid, “says Xu.

The team used the Keck telescope in Hawaii and the Hubble telescope’s spectroscopes.

Siyai Xu: “In this work we looked at the white dwarf dust discs. In the majority of these stars we have identified calcium, magnesium and silicon. We could have come across the water in one of the systems, but it did not come to him yet. However, it is probable that the systems are mostly water. For example, we identified a star at 170 light-years away, as if it were carbon, nitrogen and water, just as it was in Halley’s comet. Just like it is in the world … “

“The measurement of these chemical elements shows that the earth-forming structure is also in other planetary systems. It looks like this is pretty normal. Our belief that our planet is a world-like planet elsewhere is even stronger. “

“Work is continuing. Now we will consider the observations of Gaia’s 1.7 billion stars. So we can get to know the white dwarf more closely.
